E Komo Mai
As a lifetime resident of Lana’i, I have great passion for issues specific to Lana’i, Moloka`i and Mau’i. Water resources and conservation are of great concern; too often we hear about water supply shortages in up-country Maui and low reservoir levels during years of drought. Moloka’i and Lana’i also have concerns about water resource allocation for developments of “luxury” homes, especially those that do not have full time residents, that use limited water resources for irrigation when drinking water for full time residents should be a priority.
We should be concerned for our senior citizens and the lack of adequate housing facilities, senior centers, assisted living homes, and maintenance for existing facilities. We should be concerned for our children and playgrounds, adequate medical facilities, and adult athletic programs, facilities, equipment.
I run for Maui County Council, Lana’i District, because I believe I can make a difference. Too often statements and promises are made but not kept. The promises I make will be formed by the concerns of the voters of Maui County.
I have done this with other organizations I have had the privilege to serve, which include the UPW (VP of Maui District), the Governor’s Advisory Council (Chair), and the Lana`i Planning Commission; I will continue to do so when elected to Maui County Council. To serve our communities will be my honor, and I will dedicate my efforts to conserving energy, promoting alternative energy resources, conserving water, recycling, fighting for affordable housing and adequate medical facilities.
Mahalo,
Matt Mano
